BEST MANAGEMENT PRACTICES (BMP'S)

The purpose of Best Management Practices (BMPs) are to reduce soil erosion that is caused by tree harvesting and extraction of the logs from the woodland. BMPs are simple techniques to minimize erosion and keep the soil out of streams. Many of the employees of Beech Island Timber are trained and certified under the BMP program. BMP’s are used in order to ensure that water quality and erosion standards are met. Beech Island Timber plans ahead to fully ensure that road and deck locations, skid trails, any water crossings, etc., are all in accordance to the BMP method.
